Oxwich Castle

Sited above Oxwich bay probably on an earlier fortified site the building reflects its position deep within the Gower and the period in which it was built, in 1520‘s by Sir Rice Mansel. The gatehouse is only ceremonial the walls hardly evident.  Our work included the repair to the timber work to the roofs the re-tiling with graded welsh slates and the re-lime washing of the walls of this range. During the course of the work dendrochronology was undertaken which confirmed the visual evidence of the truss’s.
