The repair programme was divided into two phases.During the interregnum time was given for the making of the new stone tiles.
Phase one being the erection of scaffolding and the temporary roof, followed by the removal of the stone tiles and the calculations for quantities and the sizes of the new tiles.
Phase two was the re-roofing of the barn with a mix of existing and new material, after limited repairs to the timber structure and consolidation of the stone gables.
Unfortunately the start of the project coincided with
Some of the worst flooding Gloucestershire had seen
in 75 years.
When we eventually started the roof coverings, it
was necessary for us to mix the new with the old
tiles so as to minimise the impact of the new.
The area of the roof was approximately 5,600 sq. ft.
