A medieval Farmhouse isolated at the upper end of a valley virtually surrounded and overlooked by the edges of a vast area of common land. The building despite being derelict preserved much of its details. Its medieval single bay cruck hall, the inserted chimney, the dated porch of 1750 with the post and panel screens, a parlour wing of the same date and then the cow house and an attached barn beyond. Most of the timbers survived both structural and decorative ,and after the repair most can now be seen. The client compromised nothing so no insulation no water no electricity. Lime wash and stone flagged floors. torched tiles and open fires A great lesson for those who are charged to preserve our historic buildings.
